Welcome to Paul Knox Middle School

Our Purpose
The purpose of Paul Knox Middle School is to educate students to be successful, self-sufficient seekers of new knowledge and citizens who are actively engaged in their community and world.

Our Direction
1) We believe all students can and must learn at relatively high levels of achievement, and our responsibility is to work with each student to ensure that high standards have been achieved.

2) We believe academic success is best achieved when the student, the parent(s), and the teacher(s)
all make significant contributions in the education process.

3) In addition to the basic three “R”s of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, we believe teachers should
adhere to the five “R”s of education to encourage student academic growth.

The five “R”s are:

1) Relationships

2) Relevance

3) Rigor

4) Writing

5) Reflection

At Paul Knox Middle School, our faculty and staff are committed to encourage, develop and train
students to become academically prepared and well-adjusted young adults. We believe our
students must grow academically each and every year.

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to Paul Knox Middle School.  We look forward to working with you this year.  Paul Knox Middle School has a history of fine academic and extracurricular accomplishments.  We are proud of our tradition and have high expectations for our students.

Students, you can benefit most by being actively engaged in your academic work.  Your ability to make good decisions will be your greatest asset.  Attend class every day, pay attention in class, respect your teachers and peers, do your homework, and study!

Time management also becomes crucial for success as you begin to formalize study habits that will serve you throughout your academic years, and beyond.  Organizing your time and using time wisely is a skill you must develop if success is something you desire.

Parents, we encourage you to be an active participant in your student’s education.  Become familiar with the school’s website, which includes teacher class pages and valuable school information.  Utilize the Power School parent portal, which provides you with real-time grades throughout the year.  We also encourage you to visit your student’s classes.  Please read the student agenda and become very familiar with these policies.  The policies in the agenda are designed in the best interest of our student’s and our school.

Again, welcome and I wish you much success.   Let’s have a great year!
